From 1 to 4 October 2026, Sapiens Design Studio returns to Catanzaro to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Materia Independent Design Festival, held at the Complesso Monumentale del San Giovanni.
To celebrate the Festival’s tenth anniversary, we have been invited to take part as one of the “Talenti di Materia”, returning to a festival that has been part of several significant moments in our journey. Since 2017, we have participated in five editions, presenting Oplàmp, Intrecci, Idem, Pacyami and Pirò over the years.
For this edition, we have chosen to bring some of these projects together with two of our more recent works. Oplàmp and Pirò return to Materia, alongside Skia and Liffo.
Skia continues the path of research and experimentation first explored with Intrecci. While that project focused on materials and their expressive potential, here light becomes a means of exploring presence, absence and memory.
Liffo, meanwhile, reveals another dimension of our work, showing how the same design approach can extend across different fields, technologies and levels of complexity.
Returning to Materia for its 10th anniversary is particularly meaningful to us: an opportunity to reconnect with a festival that has accompanied us at different points in our story, while using these four projects to reflect on how our research has evolved over the years.
